Tuesday January 27th... FLEA DAY
I don't know if you have ever experienced an infestation, but if you haven't you aren't missing anything!! Yesterday was the LONGEST DAY OF MY LIFE!!!!!
Lets take it from the top...
Terminex is coming today so we need to prepare the apartment.
7am: Wake up and start to move everything out of the closets (now remember that we have all of kt and teddy's belongings in storage bins in our closets...). That takes about an hour!
8am: Pack up all of our clothing and bedding into garbage bags, laundry baskets, boxes, etc... and then pack that all into 2 cars! That takes about 1.5 hours
930am: Now time to vaccuum everything and move all the furniture away from the wall. Pull everything from under the bed as well (which again is a lot because we are storing 2 people's entire lives in our place!) Sweep and wash all the floors. Pretty much clean every surface!
1030am: Tina now takes Louis to the groomers to get his Flea bath as Lacey and I wait for Terminex to arrive.
1130am: Terminex arrives and we must leave and stay gone for 4-6 hours (we thought this was going to be so long to have to stay gone...). So we take off. Head to the bank to deposit some checks and then head to Target to get the rest of our flea control needs! (Laundry detergent, bins, rope, flea spray, etc.) After target we are all pretty hungry so we go and get some lunch. Now that our tummies are happy we decide its been enough time that we should be able to start doing Laundry now... we decide to check out a coin laundry that is supposed to have wi-fi. Maybe we can do something productive today then?!?!
2:15pm: Arrive at Monaco Coin Laundry and start to unload the cars... As we bring in bag after bag of laundry, everyone is just starring at us like we are completely crazy! My stuff alone lined an entire wall of the place. Lacey and Tina piled up their bags on an entire seating area and corner of the room. After we unload and get our first loads of laundry in the wash we find out the damn change machine no longer works!!! GEEZ! So we have to cross the street to the other coin laundry and use the change machine over there. Load after load after load all three of us work away at washing everything that was in our closests, our bedding, and every rug, blanket, towel, etc. We pretty much took over the place. Had stuff in almost every machine, every cart, every dryer, and every folding table. Once I finally had everything in a machine of some sort (either washing or drying) I took over the sink as well and started all of the handwashing.
7pm: We finally start packing everything into 30 gallon garbage bags (that we grabbed quick at a 7/11) and reload the cars. We filled 10 of the garbage bags, a hamper, 3 laundry baskets, and a few other containers!
7:30pm: Get home and grab something to eat really quick (we are all pretty exhausted and tired from doing laundry for 5 hours! We fix the apartment back up before bring all of the laundry back up. (move the furniture back against the walls, unloaded the balcony and put everything back into the closests). We then pull the cars up to the elevator and unload everything. We pretty much took up the entire area surrounding the elevator. A few people passed by and asked if we were moving in lol! I was like "Nope, just did our laundry!" A few elevator rides later we had everything up on the 3rd floor and brought down to our apartment. Then began the task of finding which bag had your stuff in it and where to put all the hang dry only items?!?!? This is where the rope came into play... We rigged three make-shift laundry lines and tried to hang up all the wet stuff. Here are a few photos of the results:
TRACY's Bathroom and Bedroom:
TINA & LACEY's Bathroom and our Living Room:
I think finally by 11pm we had everything hung up and we were ready to pass out!
So to sum things up....
$100 at Target for Flea control shit
$40 at the Groomers to clean Rat Baby
$90 at Coin Laundry to Clean Everything in the Apartment
Coming home to our apartment knowing all the DAMN fleas are dead after spending 5 hours doing DAMN laundry... PRICELESS!
