So it is official now, I am the Siliken Baby! Everyone at my company is pretty young (no one over 40), but I am the youngest and so I have been named the Siliken Baby :) (and I dont mind at all).
I am loving my job. I enjoy all of my co-workers and it is just a laid back environment. I pretty much get to do my own thing, my way. No one hangs over my sholder, or trys to micro-manage me! Its absolutely GREAT! (I prbly see my boss once a week and he asked if he was too much over my sholder!! lol)
My day to day as of now consists of a mix of office manager duties and staff accountant duties. As office manager I am answering the phone, transfering calls, checking the mail, ordering office supplies (yup, they let me do it and u know how I LOVE office supplies!!!!!), and any other little office tasks for my co-workers. As staff accountant I am in charge of A/P, updating it whenever invoices come in, all Cash activity (I send weekly reports to the CFO so he always knows where we are at with our cash), Journal Entries, Online Banking, Reconciliations, Check Runs, Month End close, Accruals, Monthly reporting (I got to work with the CFO to prepare the month end reports that had to get sent over to our Parent Co. in Spain! Woo Hoo!). As the only accountant (besides the CFO) I pretty much do everything in Quickbooks!
So that is a pretty basic overview of my job... Its going really good so far, nothing has been too challenging, but as Siliken grows, so will my responsibilities! So I am totally pumped!

So here are a bunch of pictures of my office so you can see where I now live 40 hours a week :) It was so much fun because I got to pick the walls I wanted painted, picked out some artwork for my wall, decided where I wanted everything hung up. I basically got to decorate my entire office. I feel pretty lucky! Dont think I will ever have the opportunity again :)

ReplyDeleteI can't believe they let you order office supplies. I see meetings in your future with other obsessive compulsive People. You will be introducing yourself as Siliken Baby the Office Supply aholic. Either that or you will hit rock bottom and find yourself on the street trying to score some post-it notes. Such a dangerous thing to let you loose in a office supply catalog.
