Eye of the Storm...

So nothing too much has been happening lately... no disasters at least!! (knock on wood) All three of us are still on the Job Hunt.

Lacey found out where to send her CNA paperwork today so that is some major progress and she is also getting fingerprinted tomorrow, YAY! Hopefully WI wont take too long in sending her paperwork back so she can get everything squarted away.

Tina had an interview with a Tanning Salon today for a manager position. She said the interview was a little intimidating, but she managed to get through it. One of the owners was really nice and she got along with him very well. Hopefully he will push to get her hired asap! I think that would be a dream come true for her (free unlimited tanning!!!).

I met with a new recruiter today and she was very nice. She might have a staff accountant position for me so keep your fingers crossed. I have 3 now looking for jobs for me, as well as my own hunt! If something doesn't come through maybe I am just meant to be a BEACH BUM!!! haha!

Well I had a request from my lovely big sister to send a few pics of how I had been decorating the place and since she is stuck out on deployment in a giant metal prison in the middle of the Indian Ocean for the next few months I really couldn't say no! So this is for you darling....

Flea today, Gone tomorrow

Tuesday January 27th... FLEA DAY
I don't know if you have ever experienced an infestation, but if you haven't you aren't missing anything!! Yesterday was the LONGEST DAY OF MY LIFE!!!!!
Lets take it from the top...
Terminex is coming today so we need to prepare the apartment.
7am: Wake up and start to move everything out of the closets (now remember that we have all of kt and teddy's belongings in storage bins in our closets...). That takes about an hour!
8am: Pack up all of our clothing and bedding into garbage bags, laundry baskets, boxes, etc... and then pack that all into 2 cars! That takes about 1.5 hours
930am: Now time to vaccuum everything and move all the furniture away from the wall. Pull everything from under the bed as well (which again is a lot because we are storing 2 people's entire lives in our place!) Sweep and wash all the floors. Pretty much clean every surface!
1030am: Tina now takes Louis to the groomers to get his Flea bath as Lacey and I wait for Terminex to arrive.
1130am: Terminex arrives and we must leave and stay gone for 4-6 hours (we thought this was going to be so long to have to stay gone...). So we take off. Head to the bank to deposit some checks and then head to Target to get the rest of our flea control needs! (Laundry detergent, bins, rope, flea spray, etc.) After target we are all pretty hungry so we go and get some lunch. Now that our tummies are happy we decide its been enough time that we should be able to start doing Laundry now... we decide to check out a coin laundry that is supposed to have wi-fi. Maybe we can do something productive today then?!?!
2:15pm: Arrive at Monaco Coin Laundry and start to unload the cars... As we bring in bag after bag of laundry, everyone is just starring at us like we are completely crazy! My stuff alone lined an entire wall of the place. Lacey and Tina piled up their bags on an entire seating area and corner of the room. After we unload and get our first loads of laundry in the wash we find out the damn change machine no longer works!!! GEEZ! So we have to cross the street to the other coin laundry and use the change machine over there. Load after load after load all three of us work away at washing everything that was in our closests, our bedding, and every rug, blanket, towel, etc. We pretty much took over the place. Had stuff in almost every machine, every cart, every dryer, and every folding table. Once I finally had everything in a machine of some sort (either washing or drying) I took over the sink as well and started all of the handwashing.
7pm: We finally start packing everything into 30 gallon garbage bags (that we grabbed quick at a 7/11) and reload the cars. We filled 10 of the garbage bags, a hamper, 3 laundry baskets, and a few other containers!
7:30pm: Get home and grab something to eat really quick (we are all pretty exhausted and tired from doing laundry for 5 hours! We fix the apartment back up before bring all of the laundry back up. (move the furniture back against the walls, unloaded the balcony and put everything back into the closests). We then pull the cars up to the elevator and unload everything. We pretty much took up the entire area surrounding the elevator. A few people passed by and asked if we were moving in lol! I was like "Nope, just did our laundry!" A few elevator rides later we had everything up on the 3rd floor and brought down to our apartment. Then began the task of finding which bag had your stuff in it and where to put all the hang dry only items?!?!? This is where the rope came into play... We rigged three make-shift laundry lines and tried to hang up all the wet stuff. Here are a few photos of the results:
TRACY's Bathroom and Bedroom:
TINA & LACEY's Bathroom and our Living Room:
I think finally by 11pm we had everything hung up and we were ready to pass out!
So to sum things up....
$100 at Target for Flea control shit
$40 at the Groomers to clean Rat Baby
$90 at Coin Laundry to Clean Everything in the Apartment
Coming home to our apartment knowing all the DAMN fleas are dead after spending 5 hours doing DAMN laundry... PRICELESS!

We're Infested!!! :(

Saturday January 24th...

I had great plans for today. Wake up! Eat some cereal, go for a nice run on the beach, come back and start some laundry, and then apply to at least 10 new jobs (since we have the internet now YAY!) Not a bad saturday morning right??? Well all I got to was eating... shortly after Tina has poor little rat baby pinned to the floor and is yelling "Tracy Tracy! I found the bug! Come look!!" Apparently Tina thought Louis had an ant crawling around on his tummy. I get over to the terrified little boy and see this little critter running around his little tummy. I manage to pinch it off and go to the kitchen (where the light is the best) to see what the hell it was. GREAT NEWS!!!! Its a DAMN FLEA!!! And as soon as I determin that the little shit pops off into thin air before my eyes! Just wonderful, Now the little bastard could be living in my hair for all I know. Well this explains the little black bugs that we all have seen bouncing around the apartment from time to time... We just thought we had some extra happy fruit flys or something! I immediately head down to the leasing office to see exactly what they are going to do about this situation.

(You see the fleas had to have been here already. Louis had gone to the vet and gotten a full check up the day before he moved out here. Since he has been here he only goes outside to pee and is on a leash the entire time. Also, if he did manage to pick up a flea, we wouldn't have a handfull of them bouncing around the apartment. Their eggs take 2 weeks to hatch! YUCK!)

The office sends maintenance over to bomb the place so we had to evacuate for 3 hours... I guess a good excuse to go lay out at the pool. Needless to say my saturday was not at all as I had planned or hoped!

The terminater is supposed to be coming on tuesday and so hopefully we will have everything figured out then! (And yes I did write Terminater... Apparently my college education has paid off!! haha!) Wish us luck! Til then we will continue to be itchy...

The 1st Week

Where do I even begin??? lol! I guess we'll start with the airport.
January 17th....
All morning I have the hugest knot in my chest. After a lovely breakfast/lunch with the rents its finally starting to hit me when I get home. I have a hour to pack up the rest of my stuff and get to the airport! AH! Panic! Luckily my mom was there to help and Jaci-o showed up shortly and helped a ton! I think all morning I kept saying over and over "oh shit, I need to re-evaluate my life!!" So I eventually get all my stuff packed up and loaded into the car and we head to the airport. The whole ride I'm just sitting there silent... I felt like I could barely breathe!

I get there, get my ticket, check my luggage, and go upstairs to wait. All the while David is texting me "should I leave my house now?" "Are you there yet?" I start freakin out with all the texts, call him and start yelling at him! Finally I can't handle it and make my dad talk to him. Suddenly David pops up right behind me lol! The little brat was there the whole time and was just playing with me. So its my parents, Jaci-o, David, Lacey, and Lacey's parents. We all just stand around and talk til it was time to go through security. Gave everyone hugs and cried like a baby and then we were off.

Lacey and I managed to sit by each other on both flights. The 1st flight was much better than the 2nd though. The flight from Phoenix to San Diego we ended up next to some crazy old lady who can only be described as a crack head! The entire flight she continued to tell us how terrible california is, how much she hated it, and basically how terrible we are going to do out there. What a major B*&$#!! We land in SD fine, get our luggage, and walk outside to see Tina pulling up yelling "WELCOME TO CALI GIRLS!!"! Wow, Can't believe we are here!!

Since moving into the apartment there have been many adventures...

Adventure 1: Trip to Mexico!

Lacey and I attempt to go to target to get some apartment necessities! We were told to take the 5 south and we would see Target from the highway... So we hit the 5. We see downtown... pass downtown... still no target. Keep going still no target... Finally I get off the 5 and the neighborhood we end up in seriously looks like we are in mexico! We quickly get back on the 5 and keep looking for Target which continues to be no where to be found! Finally I call KT Baehr and she tells us that Target is on the 8, not the 5! Geez! So we hit the 8 and get to Target only 2 hours later!!

Adventure 2: Evil Von's!

Lacey and I attempt to go grocery shopping to get our first load of food. As soon as we arrive we need to make a stop at the Ladies room... We ask where it is and end up having to get a special token to even go! There is a crazy lock on the door which can only be described like a gumball machine. The toilet paper was completely jacked up so as lay lay is sitting there im practically on the ground trying to pull a sheet out for her! So after that mild disaster we start to finally shop. The store gets so completely packed that its practically bumper carts! 2 hours later we have everything we need and are ready to get the hell outta there. We check out and then hit the parking lot only to forget where we parked! Yikes! We hit the first row, walk all the way down it and realize no car... so we attempt to go up the next row when both of our carts suddenly stop working. We are trying to push those damn carts and they just wont budge! WTF! By now we are both freaking out and someone else in the lot tells us that if we pass the yellow line in the back of the lot the cart wheels lock up so bums can't steel the carts! Geez! I leave Lacey with the carts, go find the car, and pull up and we unload the groceries and go home. Another 3 hour trip!

So despite the few disasters so far its been pretty sweet! We took a day trip to Balboa Park with Tina and her sister. It was so beautiful! A bright sunny day! We all wore sundresses and shorts and tank tops.

We also tried some fun new foods! Lacey and I went to a Japanese Restaurant and tried California Rolls! They were actually really yummy!!

And then we end this 1st week with Friday Night! Drank a few glasses of wine at the apartment and then headed to Thrusters for our 1st night out together! It started off a little slow but ended up being a great night with crazy dancing, fun boys, a few creepers, and ended with a quick stop to Pita Pit!! :)

2 Weeks Notice

So today is the day! I have to give notice at Modine (since im leaving in exactly 2 weeks). Do I come prepared to work? Of course not! lol

I come in as usual, send my morning message to my MG. Get the usual coffee and make oatmeal and then continue to Milena's cube to chat for about 45 min. (couldn't wake up without my ritual!)

Then as I get back to my desk "N" stops by with a Christmas gift and engages in small chat for a minute. Im thinking "Damn, I should have been ready to give my notice and I dont even have a letter yet!" Someday I might actually learn to stop procrastinating! So I panic and Gayle walks by. I grab her and I frantically put together a letter. I do a practice run of my short speech....

"So back in december when i went to CA an opportunity fell into my lap. I have hemmed n hawed over this all winter break, and it is just too great of an opportunity to pass up and so I am submitting my formal 2 weeks notice today".

Sounds good so I head to "N's" cube to deliever the letter and speech. Heart is racing, face is already starting to burn up and turn a beautiful shade of RED! (shouldn't have worn a hott pink shirt today). I give the speech and 1st respone is "You just started!!!" Yikes! But it went well and ended with a "Good Luck"!

So I was all freaked out for nothing... I know... Gotta get better at confrontations and talking to people! I should have called Beefy 1st!

Now I just gotta figure out what I am going to do the next 2 weeks....

Here is a copy of my letter:

Intro...

I have never been a diary kind of girl. Would only write in a Journal growing up when I was really upset. Needless to say I have many mostly blank journals with just one or two pages filled out that all begin "Mom and Dad are so mean... its so unfair!" lol

I am about to embark on prbly one of the craziest adventures to date for me. Moving out of my parents house (finally at the age of 24), quitting my job (in an absolute disaster of an economy), and moving 2,000 miles away to San Diego, CA. On top of that, I am also moving with two of my best friends: Tina Bina Boo & Drop Dead Fred (Lacey)!

With all that being said I have decided I am going to try my best to keep a record of the journey ahead of me. It might be boring, but I have a feeling its going to be crazy! Stay Tuned! :)
